About this Country House

The house was built in 1960 by the Bejerano family. Almost all houses in this neighborhood belong to (the descendants of) this family, but the current owner is the only foreigner who has been welcomed here with open arms. As she describes it; no unannounced crowds at the front door, but helping hands if necessary or desired. The house and outbuildings offer a lot of privacy due to the large grounds surrounding it.

The unique thing about the location of the house is the peace and serenity of the surroundings and that it has a separate guesthouse. And yet important facilities are located a short distance away. By car, Elche-Alicante airport is 20 minutes away, the nearest supermarket Aldi is 5 minutes away, the center of Aspe with several supermarkets, the pleasant square near the church, the weekly market and the Salud (with an emergency department) is 10 minutes away. , the Vinalope Hospital in Elche 15 minutes, L'Aljub shopping center 15 minutes. Various beaches and the sea can be reached within half an hour. And in about 45 minutes to an hour you will be in the center of major cities such as Alicante or Elche.

When you enter the fully fenced property near the house via the driveway (surrounded by olive trees and oleanders), you arrive at a higher area where there is room for several cars. From here you have access to the horse area with the casita, the almacen and the house with a large piece of land behind it. Slightly lower, also accessible via the driveway, you will find the entrance to the orchard and another piece of land (which can be closed separately).

At the front and side of the house is the spacious veranda where you can sit in the shade in summer. Around noon a cooling wind always comes up. The veranda is largely located on the south, so it is pleasant to stay here even in winter, in the sun but out of the wind (which often comes from the north).

Around the house you can enjoy the view over the valley of Aspe, Montforte del Cid and Novelda and the mountains behind them from the many places with seating areas. Every morning the sunrise is breathtaking from this spot, surrounded by grounds full of grape vines and orchards with olives and pomegranates. And while you can enjoy all the lights in the distance on summer evenings, beautiful starry skies and the moon can be admired from this magical place. Of course you can also enjoy the sun in a spacious, uncovered part of the garden and cool off under a palm tree or with a splash in the always cool (even in summer) mini pool.

Through the veranda you enter the central point of the house. The brand new spacious kitchen, made in grandmother's style, with some industrial details. The showpiece in this kitchen is the original Hergom wood stove, which also heats the kitchen (and possibly the adjacent bedroom) on colder evenings. But, you can also cook on it and bake a loaf of bread or pizza. Fresh from the wood oven. Would you like to enjoy it this winter, when the sun has set? There is already a large stock of wood (sawn to size) ready for you.

The house has three bedrooms, one of which is now used as a utility room, with a completely new bathroom attached to it.

It is wonderful to stay in the cozy living room, with a view of the veranda on the one hand and the valley and mountains on the other. In the morning you can step out onto the terrace through the door in the living room, where you will be welcomed by a scented Jasmine. The living room is cool in the summer and cozy by the wood stove in the winter.

The current owner has a preference for using second-chance materials and this is reflected in the enclosed vegetable garden, where the wooden boxes and small greenhouses are ready for sowing vegetables and herbs again in the spring. At the center of the vegetable garden is a large chicken coop, if you want to keep free-range chickens so that you can collect fresh eggs every day.

The preference for refurbished furniture is also reflected in the styling of the house and the terraces. Many pieces of furniture, cupboards and decoration have been renovated with love and passion and together they create a cozy and coordinated appearance. A large part of the furnishings, plants in pots and decorations are available for purchase after consultation.

Outdoor cooking has also been considered. You can make delicious paellas or BBQ in the outdoor kitchen. And if you're having a big party, there is also a second BBQ corner.

On the various grounds you will find a large number of fruit trees that provide you with fresh fruit and olives for olive oil all year round. There are about 25 olive trees and 20 orange trees. But also trees with lemons, pomegranates, apples, persimmons, nisperos, figs, plums and nectarines.

The house is surrounded by many perennials, which can withstand the hot summers and require little maintenance. Consider, for example, lush flowering Bougainvilleas and Plumbagos, but also Yuccas, Aloe Veras and Oleanders.
